Belga Solar, formerly known as Evocells, is the only company producing photovoltaic panels in our country. But that’s not all: we also install them in conjunction with car recharging stations and domestic batteries.
Belga Solar, which produces photovoltaic panels on a short-run basis at its plant in Baillonville (Marche-en-Famenne), has been supplying both private individuals and public and private companies for 15 years. Today, it boasts an annual production capacity of 50 MW. And with almost 400 sites completed each year, its network is growing by the thousands.
Sustainable economies of scale
“All the panels we produce and install come with a 25-year warranty. And we also guarantee a production capacity of 85% at the end of these 25 years, which is no mean feat…”, assures Sébastien Mathieu, Belga Solar’s Chief Operating Officer.
According to the latter’s calculations, an average installation of 15 to 20 well-used panels represents savings of 3,000 to 5,000 euros a year, or in the long term (25 years) 30,000 to 50,000 euros more than standard panels, often imported from China, with an average lifespan of around 15 years.
Thinking and acting locally
If producing photovoltaic energy is intrinsically sustainable, at Belga Solar we add local and social anchoring: “We work with the Atelier 85 adapted work company, based in Florennes, for our packaging. We also carry out an annual carbon assessment, implement strategies to reduce our energy consumption and offset the balance of our emissions by planting trees with the Belgian NGO Graine de Vie. This has enabled us to obtain Carbon Neutral certification issued by an independent certifier,” explains the boss.
Recently, Belga Solar took a further step by adapting its articles of association to become a “mission-driven” company: by giving itself a social and environmental purpose, and by making 360-degree sustainability part of its DNA in a participatory way, Belga Solar further strengthens the credibility and coherence of its commitments to its customers, but also to its staff. This is the message Belga Solar will be spreading on its stand (4e17) at the next BATIMOI trade show… almost in its own backyard.
